What Walks are Available?

With a total of 25 different walks available the festival will guide you to all the best walking spots around Swanage and Purbeck. Some of the favourites include the Old Harry Rocks which takes a linear route around the Studland beach giving spectacular views over Poole Harbour and Swanage. There are also a range of coastal walks that explore the ever changing coastline including the mysterious lost village of Tyneham.

Walk durations can range from a few (2-3) hours long to an all-day event (6+ hours). Every walk also has its own grade from easy to hard which is a good indication of how physically demanding the walk is. To find out more information about the Swanage & Purbeck walking festival be sure to visit their official website with a detailed schedule of the event.

Who Leads The Walks?

Each walk has its own leader in charge of leading the group and making sure everyone reaches the destination. Some of the leaders includes Andy Pedrick who owns the Jurassic Jaunts business and has walked on the Dorset coast for over 20 years. He has been leading walks in the area for over 10 years and is a member of the long distance walkers association.

The leading guide for the festival is David Leadbetter, who has been leading walks for 25 years and his lived in Swanage most of his life. He focuses on natural and local history and has led numerous walks through different organisations.
